Transition Support
Transitions can be some of the most challenging times for children and families — whether that’s starting school, moving between year levels, changing teachers, or transitioning into high school. Transition Support is designed to help families and schools plan proactively, reducing stress and supporting smoother, safer transitions for children.
At Honeycomb, transition support focuses on preparation, communication, and practical strategies that help children feel secure and understood during times of change. The aim is to anticipate needs early, rather than responding once difficulties arise.

Who this support may help
Transition Support may be helpful for families and schools supporting children who:

-
Are starting school or kindergarten and find new environments overwhelming
-
Are moving into a new year level, class, or teacher and struggle with change
-
Are transitioning into high school and need additional planning or support

Experience anxiety, shutdowns, emotional dysregulation, or behavioural escalation during periods of change

Have ADHD, autism, learning differences, disability, or a trauma history
-
Have previously experienced difficulties during transitions and need a more proactive approach

Are returning to school after periods of absence, disengagement, or school refusal

This service may also support parents who feel unsure how to communicate their child’s needs during times of change, or schools seeking to ensure transitions are planned thoughtfully and respectfully.
What this service is not
To ensure expectations are clear, Transition Support is not:

-
A therapeutic or diagnostic service
-
A guarantee that transitions will be without challenge
-
A replacement for school-based transition processes or staffing decisions
-
A one-size-fits-all program

Honeycomb’s role is to support thoughtful planning, clear communication, and practical adjustments that reduce stress and support continuity- always centered on the child’s wellbeing and access to learning.

Transition Support is grounded in the understanding that when transitions are planned well, children are more likely to feel safe, settled, and ready to learn
Important Information
Honeycomb Education Advocacy and Support provides parent-focused advocacy, guidance, and education support services. Our role is to assist families in understanding educational processes, preparing for school meetings, and advocating for appropriate adjustments and supports within mainstream schooling.

Honeycomb does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or diagnostic services and does not replace the role of qualified health professionals, legal representatives, or school staff. Any information shared or support provided is intended to complement -not substitute - professional advice or school-based decision-making.

While Honeycomb advocates strongly for children and families, outcomes remain subject to school policies, departmental guidelines, and individual circumstances. As such, specific results cannot be guaranteed.

All advocacy is approached with respect, professionalism, and a commitment to the dignity and wellbeing of the child. Families remain the decision-makers for their child, and Honeycomb works alongside parents and caregivers to support informed, collaborative advocacy
