School Meeting Advocacy and Support

School meetings can feel overwhelming -especially when you’re trying to advocate for your child while managing nerves, emotions, and unfamiliar language. School Meeting Advocacy & Support is designed to ensure you don’t have to face these conversations alone.

Through this service, Honeycomb supports families before, during, and after school meetings to help keep discussions child-centred, practical, and focused on meaningful support rather than behavior, blame, or assumptions.

What this service looks like

Before the meeting

  • We meet with you to understand your child, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve

  • We help clarify goals and identify appropriate adjustments or supports to discuss

  • We support you to prepare what to say and what questions to ask, so you feel confident and grounded

During the meeting

  • Honeycomb can attend meetings with you (in person or online) as a support and advocate

  • We help guide conversations toward understanding your child’s needs and functional impacts

  • We support a strengths-based approach and are clear that the purpose of the meeting is not to shame or label a child for their behaviour, but to understand what support is needed

  • We assist in navigating difficult moments if discussions become overwhelming, dismissive, or overly behaviour-focused

After the meeting

  • We help you unpack what was discussed and what was agreed upon

  • We support follow-up communication where clarification or next steps are required

  • We help ensure agreed supports are clearly documented and practical to implement

This service is not about conflict -it’s about collaboration, clarity, and advocacy that is respectful, calm, and firm when needed. The focus remains on dignity, understanding, and meaningful support for the child.

You don’t have to do this alone -Honeycomb is there to support you every step of the way

What this service is not.

To ensure expectations are clear and aligned, School Meeting Advocacy & Support is not:

  • A service designed to blame, shame, or discipline a child for their behaviour

  • An adversarial or aggressive approach toward schools or educators

  • A replacement for school staff, therapists, or formal diagnostic services

  • A guarantee of specific outcomes or decisions beyond what is reasonable within the school context

Honeycomb’s role is to support respectful, solution-focused conversations that centre the child’s needs, dignity, and access to learning. Advocacy is grounded in collaboration, clarity, and evidence-informed practice -with firm boundaries where required

Important Information

Honeycomb Education Advocacy and Support provides parent-focused advocacy, guidance, and education support services. Our role is to assist families in understanding educational processes, preparing for school meetings, and advocating for appropriate adjustments and supports within mainstream schooling.

Honeycomb does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or diagnostic services and does not replace the role of qualified health professionals, legal representatives, or school staff. Any information shared or support provided is intended to complement -not substitute - professional advice or school-based decision-making.

While Honeycomb advocates strongly for children and families, outcomes remain subject to school policies, departmental guidelines, and individual circumstances. As such, specific results cannot be guaranteed.

All advocacy is approached with respect, professionalism, and a commitment to the dignity and wellbeing of the child. Families remain the decision-makers for their child, and Honeycomb works alongside parents and caregivers to support informed, collaborative advocacy
